I am JG, a French photographer in Tokyo. Experience a 60-minute photoshoot in the streets of your favourite area of Tokyo. We walk from one spot to the next. I guide you the whole way through.
The Process
- 60 minutes in one neighbourhood, counted from the meeting point. We finish wherever the last photograph is taken.
- We choose the start time together when booking; for the night locations that means after dark.
- I send you a private digital gallery within 24 hours, so you can choose your twelve photographs.
- I retouch each one, keeping colour, contrast and skin natural, and deliver them within seven days of your choice.
- If rain is forecast, we decide up to two hours before the session: postponed where possible, cancelled where not.
The Locations
Shibuya by Night
Neon, crossings and backstreets, from dusk onward. The busiest hour in Tokyo, used as a backdrop.
Meeting point: the main entrance of Shibuya 109
Shimokitazawa by Day
Second-hand shops, narrow lanes and low buildings. Daylight, and a quieter crowd than Shibuya.
Meeting point: in front of MUJI Shimokitazawa
Meiji Jingu Shrine by Day
Gravel paths, torii gates and the forest in the middle of the city. Calm, green and formal.
Meeting point: the first torii, at the Harajuku entrance
Asakusa by Night
Senso-ji lit after dark, Nakamise shuttered and the lanterns on. The crowd thins out after nine.

That was out of expectation ( in a good way!) ! Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a session, and how many photographs do I get?
Sixty minutes in one neighbourhood, and twelve photographs retouched by hand.
Can more than one person be photographed?
Yes. Couples are the same price.
What should I wear?
Whatever you would like to be photographed in. Outdoors the background can be busy, so plain colours hold up better than patterns. Come light as well, since anything you are carrying tends to end up in the frame.
What happens if it rains?
The session is postponed to another date where that is possible, and cancelled where it is not. Payment is on the day, so there is nothing to refund.
When do I get the photographs?
A private gallery within 24 hours of the session for you to choose your twelve, then delivery within seven days of your selection.
Can I have the unedited files?
Yes, on request. They are the frames as they came out of the camera, with no retouching.
How is this different from a studio session?
A 12-photograph studio session runs two to three hours and every photograph is retouched in detail, which is why it costs ¥120,000. This one runs an hour and the finish is lighter. Colour, contrast and skin kept natural rather than worked over. Same hand, less of it.
Can I order additional retouched photographs?
Yes. Additional retouched photographs are ¥5,000 each.
How and when do I pay?
By credit card or cash on the day of the shoot.
